What you'll need
- A device already added (see Router & hardware setup overview)
Steps
- Go to Devices and click Edit Device on the device you want to change.
- The Info tab shows a read-only summary: device name, active/inactive status, MAC address, model type, NASID, and location.
- The Edit tab is where you make changes — today that's the device's Location (a dropdown, letting you reassign it to a different location) and its Device Name. Click Update to save.
- The Session tab shows the location's session limits (daily time limit, bandwidth caps, content filter) that apply to this device, with a link to edit those location-wide session options if you need to change them.
- Your device's hardware type/vendor is locked in at creation — there's no field to change it here. If you set up the wrong vendor, delete the device (see Delete or disable a device) and add it again with the correct one.
Best practice: double-check the Location dropdown before saving if you're moving a device between sites — reassigning triggers MyWiFi to reconnect to the device with its new location's settings, so it's not something to do casually mid-troubleshooting.
