What you'll need
- A device already added
Steps
- On the Devices list, each device has a status indicator you can use to mark it Active or Inactive without removing it — use this for a device you're temporarily taking offline (maintenance, seasonal closure) but plan to reconnect later.
- To remove a device entirely, click the trash icon on its row and confirm.
- Deleting a device doesn't erase it outright — MyWiFi archives it and clears its location assignment. Its guest/session history isn't deleted either, but deleting changes the device's stored MAC address internally, which can make that history harder to find "from" the device record afterward.
- Once a device is deleted, its MAC address becomes available again — you can add a new device with that same MAC (useful if you're replacing failed hardware with an identical unit).
Best practice: use Inactive, not Delete, for anything temporary — deleting is meant for hardware you're permanently retiring, and re-adding a deleted device means setting it up from scratch again.
