Manage multiple WhatsApp numbers

What you'll need

  • At least one WhatsApp number already registered (managed or BYO)
  • Multiple campaigns or locations that should send from different numbers

Steps

  1. Go to Account SettingsMessaging (/user/editprofile#messaging) and scroll to Sender Numbers on this Account. Every number registered on your account is listed here.
  2. To add another number, click Rent a number (managed — see Buy a managed number for SMS or WhatsApp) or Add number (register a number already on your own Twilio account).
  3. Rename a number so it's identifiable in the list — for example, name it after the location or brand it sends for.
  4. Click Set default on the number that should be used when a campaign doesn't specify one.
  5. In each campaign's Login tab, use the WhatsApp option's number picker to choose which registered number that specific campaign sends from — this is how one account with several numbers routes different campaigns to different senders.
  6. Use Remove to delete a number you no longer need. This doesn't affect campaigns using other numbers.

Best practice: name every number by what it's for (e.g. "Downtown Location" or "Spring Promo") the moment you register it — a list of only phone numbers is hard to manage once you have more than two.
