Custom domain setup (control panel and social portal)

What you'll need

  • Access to your domain's DNS settings at your registrar
  • Your own domain name you want to use (e.g. dashboard.yourbrand.com)
  • A plan tier that includes custom domains, for the social/guest-portal domain specifically

Steps

  1. Go to Branding, and find the Custom Domain cards — one for your Control Panel (your own dashboard login URL), one for your Social Portal (the domain for your captive portal — the mini-browser window a guest's phone opens automatically when they join your WiFi).
  2. Each card shows the CNAME target you need to point at — a CNAME is a DNS record that points your own domain name at MyWiFi's servers. Copy it. Branding Domains panel — the subdomain field, and the Control Panel and Social Portal custom-domain entries each showing the exact CNAME target to point at
  3. At your domain registrar, create a CNAME record for your chosen subdomain (e.g. dashboard.yourbrand.com) pointing to that target.
  4. Back in MyWiFi, enter your domain and save. MyWiFi does a live DNS check — if your CNAME isn't resolving correctly yet, it tells you immediately rather than accepting a broken domain.
  5. Once the DNS check passes, your domain shows as pending. It is not live yet.
  6. Activation to active is completed by MyWiFi staff on their side — expect a delay, not instant activation, after your DNS check passes.

Once a domain is active, you can't edit it yourself from this screen — contact support for a change after that point.

Best practice: set up your DNS record first and give it time to propagate before entering the domain in MyWiFi — a CNAME that hasn't propagated yet will fail the live check even if you configured it correctly.
