What you'll need
- Access to Branding / domain settings
- Access to your domain's DNS settings at your registrar
Steps
- MyWiFi has two independent custom-domain fields, because they serve two different audiences: a control panel domain (the URL you and your team log in at to reach your own dashboard) and a guest/social portal domain (the URL your guests actually hit when they connect to your WiFi and log in).
- You can set up one, both, or neither — they're validated and saved separately, so setting up your control panel domain doesn't automatically set up your portal domain, and vice versa. That separation also means you can roll one out now and add the other later, whenever it makes sense for your business.
- Each has its own CNAME — a DNS record that points your own domain name at MyWiFi's servers — to configure with your DNS provider; see Custom domain setup for the steps.
Best practice: if only one matters to your business (most owner-operators only care about the guest-facing portal domain, while resellers usually want both), it's fine to only set up the one you need — there's no requirement to configure both.
