How can I fix a wrong MAC address?

If you make a mistake while entering your device, your device won't properly connect to MyWiFi -- but it's easy to fix! 

Terminology

A MAC address is a sequence of 12 numbers and the letters A-F often separated by colons (ex: AC:86:74:8B:45:20). It serves as a unique identifier for each physical device.

An SSID is the WiFi network name that you see on your phone or computer when choosing what network to connect to. The default SSID for a hotspot flashed with the MyWiFi firmware is MyWiFi_MACAddress -- for example, MyWiFi_AC86748B4520.

Incorrect addresses

When entering your device, and before deleting a device to re-enter the new MAC address, you should always verify that the MAC address you're using matches the default SSID that your device broadcasts when it's turned on.

Sometimes flashing custom firmware will alter the device's MAC address. If this is the case please contact support with a screenshot of the MyWiFi_SSID and we will correct the MAC address for you.

If you simply entered the wrong MAC address, you can fix it by deleting the device and re-adding it with the correct MAC address. To delete the device, click the trash icon.

Once you have deleted the device, you can then re-add the device using the correct MAC address.
