Set up Xirrus with MyWiFi

What you'll need

  • Full self-serve setup guidance for Xirrus (originally independent, later acquired by Riverbed and then ADTRAN/HPE) isn't published yet. This article points you in the right direction rather than presenting steps we haven't verified.
  • If you have a Xirrus deployment — AP arrays or standalone Xirrus access points, typically managed via XMS-Cloud — contact MyWiFi support before attempting to configure it yourself.

Steps

  1. Contact MyWiFi support and let them know you're setting up a Xirrus / XMS-Cloud deployment. There is a partial existing integration path on our side, but the full setup mechanism isn't documented for self-service yet.
  2. Don't try to reuse the Generic RADIUS / WISPr steps for Xirrus — Xirrus's XMS-Cloud platform uses its own "Redirect Secret" shared-passphrase mechanism for its external captive portal, which works differently from the standard RADIUS/WISPr redirect most other vendors use.
  3. MyWiFi support will work with you directly to get your controller and RADIUS settings configured correctly while this integration is being finalized.

Best practice: don't attempt a self-serve Xirrus setup by guessing at RADIUS or WISPr settings from a different vendor's guide — reach out to MyWiFi support first so it can be configured correctly the first time.
