Set up generic RADIUS / WISPr hardware with MyWiFi

What you'll need

• This isn't a specific product — it's the fallback path for any RADIUS-capable access point or controller that isn't one of MyWiFi's named integrations. Use this guide if your hardware supports standard RADIUS and a browser-redirect captive portal but doesn't have its own named MyWiFi entry.
• Admin access to your AP or controller's guest-network / hotspot settings
• A MyWiFi location already created, so you have a RADIUS server IP, shared secret, and portal URL to enter

Steps

1. In the MyWiFi dashboard, go to Devices and click Add Device.
2. Select the Location, name the device, and under Select Your Hardware choose Generic RADIUS / WISPr (or the closest match if your brand isn't listed).
3. Save the device, then note the RADIUS server IP (auth on UDP/1812, accounting on UDP/1813), the shared secret, and the external portal URL MyWiFi generates for this location.
4. On your AP or controller, open the SSID or guest-network settings and set the authentication method to "WPA2-Enterprise" or "Captive Portal with RADIUS." Enter MyWiFi's RADIUS server IP and shared secret for both the authentication server (port 1812) and the accounting server (port 1813).
5. Set the NAS-Identifier to a unique string for this location (for example, your venue name or floor), and record that same string in the device's settings back in MyWiFi so usage and accounting records line up correctly.
6. In the controller's hotspot or captive-portal section, choose "External Portal" or "WISPr External" mode and paste in MyWiFi's portal URL as the Login URL. Most controllers automatically attach the parameters the redirect needs — you shouldn't have to configure these by hand.
7. Add MyWiFi's portal domain to your walled garden / allowed-hosts list so guests can reach the login page before they've authenticated.

Best practice: keep unencrypted (port 80) traffic interception enabled on your AP or controller. If your guest network forces HTTPS before a device has logged in, iPhones and iPads will never detect the captive portal, and guests will just see "no internet" with no way to log in.
