Set up Extreme Networks XIQ with MyWiFi

What you'll need

• Admin access to your ExtremeCloud IQ (XIQ) dashboard
• A guest SSID already created, or the ability to create one
• The MyWiFi RADIUS server IP and shared secret from your MyWiFi device registration screen
• Optional: a free account at developer.extremecloudiq.com if you want MyWiFi to auto-sync your AP inventory via API
• Note: XIQ Cloud (SaaS) and XIQ Controller (on-prem) are different products. These steps cover XIQ Cloud, which is what most customers run. If you manage an on-prem XIQ Controller appliance, contact MyWiFi support for the controller-specific setup.

Steps

1. On your XIQ dashboard, create (or edit) your guest SSID with open authentication.
2. Under that SSID's Captive Web Portal settings, set the authentication type to "Redirection to External URL for Authentication," set encryption to "UAM Basic," and paste in your MyWiFi splash page URL.
3. Under the same SSID's AAA configuration, add a RADIUS Server Group pointing to MyWiFi's RADIUS server IP, using port 1812 for authentication and port 1813 for accounting, with the shared secret MyWiFi provided.
4. Add all MyWiFi portal domains, CDN domains, and any social login provider domains you use (Facebook, Google, etc.) to the XIQ Walled Garden allowlist for the SSID.
5. Optional — if you want MyWiFi to automatically sync your AP inventory: generate an API token in XIQ under Global Settings > API Token Management (requires a developer.extremecloudiq.com account first).
6. Apply the network policy to your target APs and push the full configuration update.
7. In the MyWiFi dashboard, go to Devices and click Add Device.
8. Select the Location, name the device, and under Select Your Hardware choose Extreme Networks XIQ.
9. Enter your XIQ connection details as prompted and save.

Best practice: The Walled Garden allowlist is the single most common cause of broken guest logins on XIQ. Any domain missing from it — including social login providers — breaks that login method silently, with no error shown to the guest. Double-check it whenever you add a new login option in your campaign.
