Set up Ubiquiti UniFi with MyWiFi

What you'll need

• Admin access to your UniFi Network Application (self-hosted controller, Cloud Key, or UDM/UCG console)
• A UniFi OS console running Network Application 9.1.105 or later (needed to generate an API key — older self-hosted setups without UniFi OS can't use API keys and need a different login method; contact support if that's your setup)
• Your controller reachable over HTTPS from the internet — self-hosted controllers behind NAT will need port forwarding or a VPN tunnel

Steps

1. In the UniFi Network Application, go to Settings > WiFi, select your guest SSID, and set Guest Authentication to External Portal Server. Paste in the MyWiFi portal URL provided in your MyWiFi account.
2. Add your MyWiFi domain — and any social-login provider domains you're using — to the Pre-Authorization Access (walled garden) list so the portal page can load before a guest is authenticated.
3. Go to Settings > Integrations, create a new API key, and copy both the key and your controller's public HTTPS hostname. UDM/UCG Max consoles answer on port 443; Cloud Key Gen2 typically answers on port 8443 — note which one applies to you.
4. In the MyWiFi dashboard, go to Devices and click Add Device.
5. Select the Location, name the device, and under Select Your Hardware choose Ubiquiti UniFi.
6. Enter your UniFi connection details as prompted — your controller's URL and the API key from step 3 — and save.

Best practice: if your controller is self-hosted and sits behind a firewall or NAT, confirm it's reachable over HTTPS from the public internet before connecting it — MyWiFi calls the controller directly to authorize each guest, so a controller that's only reachable on your local network will leave guests stuck after they complete the login screen.
