What you'll need
- Admin access to your RUCKUS ZoneDirector controller or Unleashed master AP.
- The MAC address of the access point that will serve guests (printed on its label and shown in the controller).
- MyWiFi's RADIUS server address and shared secret, and your MyWiFi splash page URL (RADIUS is the standard protocol WiFi hardware uses to ask MyWiFi whether a guest may go online). These aren't shown in the dashboard, so email support@mywifinetworks.com for them before you start.
- A MyWiFi location (one physical venue in MyWiFi, with its own devices, campaigns, and guest data) already created.
Steps
- In the controller, go to Admin & Services > Services > Hotspot Services (Unleashed) or Services & Profiles > Hotspot Services (ZoneDirector) and create a new Hotspot profile. This is RUCKUS's name for a captive portal, the login window a phone opens automatically when it joins the network.
- Set the Login Page URL to your MyWiFi splash page URL, and set the Redirect URL to wherever guests should land after logging in.
- Under Authentication, add an AAA server pointing to MyWiFi's RADIUS server, with the shared secret, port 1812 for authentication and port 1813 for accounting.
- Add MyWiFi's splash page domain to the Walled Garden list (the short list of domains guests can reach before logging in) on the Hotspot profile.
- Assign the Hotspot profile to your guest WLAN.
- In the MyWiFi dashboard, go to Devices and click Add New Device.
- Select the Location, enter a Device Name, and under Select Your Hardware choose Ruckus. (Don't choose Ruckus SmartZone; that's a different integration.)
- Enter the MAC Address of the access point that serves guests, then click Confirm Setup. MyWiFi doesn't ask for a controller address or password for ZoneDirector.
Good to know: RUCKUS tells MyWiFi which access point a guest is connected to, and MyWiFi matches that MAC address to the device you added. Guests on an access point whose MAC isn't registered see a generic page instead of your venue's campaign. If the guest WLAN runs on more than one access point, email support@mywifinetworks.com before you roll out.
