Set up Aruba Instant On with MyWiFi

What you'll need

• Access to the Instant On app or web portal (app.instant-on.hpe.com) for the site
• A valid HTTPS certificate on your MyWiFi splash page domain from a trusted certificate authority (avoid wildcard certs here — they can conflict with how the AP intercepts the connection)
• Your MyWiFi RADIUS server IP and shared secret, if you're using RADIUS-backed login
• Heads up: Aruba Instant On has no provisioning API. Every site has to be configured by hand, one at a time, in the app — there's no way to push this configuration automatically across locations.

Steps

1. In the Instant On app or web portal, open your site, go to Networks, select or create your guest network, and open the Guest Portal option.
2. Set Portal type to External and enter your MyWiFi splash page URL in the Server URL field.
3. Choose your auth method. For social login, SMS, or email-capture flows, choose RADIUS-backed authentication, enter MyWiFi's RADIUS server IP and shared secret, and enable Send RADIUS Accounting. For a simple click-to-accept/terms-only flow with no RADIUS, choose Acknowledgment type instead.
4. Add MyWiFi's splash page domain and any social/OAuth login domains you use to the Allowed Destinations list (walled garden). This has to be done by hand for each site — there's no bulk or automated option.
5. In the MyWiFi dashboard, go to Devices and click Add Device.
6. Select the Location, name the device, and under Select Your Hardware choose Aruba Instant On.
7. Enter your Aruba Instant On connection details as prompted and save.

Best practice: This is the one platform in this lineup with no automation — budget time to repeat steps 1–4 by hand for every site if you're rolling out to multiple locations. Also, watch your AP firmware updates: the certificate Instant On uses to intercept the login page changes with firmware version, and an update can silently break the login flow until you re-check the guest portal is still working.
