Set up EnGenius Cloud with MyWiFi

What you'll need

  • Admin access to your EnGenius Cloud console
  • The MyWiFi RADIUS server IP and shared secret from your MyWiFi device registration screen (needed if guests log in with a username/password) — RADIUS is the standard protocol your hardware uses to ask MyWiFi whether a guest may go online
  • Optional, for SSID auto-provisioning or remotely managing sessions from MyWiFi: a Cloud PRO license on the target AP(s) and an API key generated in the console

Steps

  1. In the EnGenius Cloud console, go to the target Network > SSIDs and create or edit your guest SSID — the WiFi network name guests see when connecting.
  2. Under Captive Portal (the mini-browser window a phone opens automatically when a guest joins the network), set the authentication type to "Custom RADIUS" and enter MyWiFi's RADIUS server IP, port 1812, and shared secret. If guests should get online without entering credentials, choose "Click-through" instead.
  3. Set the Splash Page type to "External Splash Page" and enter your MyWiFi-hosted splash page URL — the branded login page guests see in that captive-portal window. Enable Walled Garden (the small list of domains a guest can reach before logging in, so the splash page and login providers load) and add MyWiFi's public splash server IP address — EnGenius only accepts IP addresses here, not hostnames, so if your splash server sits behind a CDN with multiple IPs you may need to whitelist a CIDR range instead of a single address.
  4. Make sure "HTTPS login" is enabled in the SSID's captive portal settings if your MyWiFi splash page uses HTTPS. If this doesn't match, the AP will reject the login attempt.
  5. Optional — for programmatic SSID setup or the ability to disconnect sessions from MyWiFi: generate an API key in EnGenius Cloud (avatar icon > API Key > Generate). This requires a Cloud PRO license on each AP; a free-tier AP will return a license error rather than an authentication error, so don't mistake one for the other.
  6. In the MyWiFi dashboard, go to Devices and click Add Device.
  7. Select the Location, name the device, and under Select Your Hardware choose EnGenius Cloud.
  8. Enter your EnGenius connection details as prompted and save.

Note: EnGenius APs expect the captive-portal login POST to use exactly username and password as field names — this is hardcoded in EnGenius's firmware. MyWiFi's splash page already sends the correct field names for this integration, so there's nothing to configure here. This is worth knowing only if you're troubleshooting a login failure with EnGenius support — it's why an EnGenius-specific splash page isn't interchangeable with a generic one.
