Set up Juniper Mist with MyWiFi

What you'll need

• Admin access to the Mist dashboard (manage.mist.com)
• A guest SSID you can configure for external portal access
• Optionally, a Mist Organization API token if you want MyWiFi to pull site/AP stats or provision WLANs — not required for basic guest login

Steps

1. In the Mist dashboard, open the target Site, go to Wireless > WLANs, and create or edit your guest SSID. Under Guest Portal, select Forward to external portal and paste in the MyWiFi external portal URL from your MyWiFi account.
2. Mist auto-generates an API Secret for that WLAN once you save — copy it and keep it private. This secret is specific to this SSID and is what authorizes guests after they complete the MyWiFi login screen, so treat it like a password.
3. Optional: if you want MyWiFi to read site/AP stats or manage WLANs, go to Organization > Admin > Settings > API Token in Mist and create an Organization API token.
4. In the MyWiFi dashboard, go to Devices and click Add Device.
5. Select the Location, name the device, and under Select Your Hardware choose Juniper Mist.
6. Enter your Mist connection details as prompted — the WLAN's API Secret from step 2, and the Organization API token from step 3 if you generated one — and save.

Best practice: if your organization's Mist account is on the EU or GC1 cloud rather than the default US cloud, let your MyWiFi contact know when connecting — Mist's guest-authorization step uses a region-specific host, and guests can get stuck completing login if the wrong region is assumed.
