Branding DNS setup - general

If your domain is hosted at a registrar that we don't have a specific article for, this guide will help you find the settings to change to add your CNAME records and brand your custom control panel URL and custom social portal URL.

NOTE: These are intentionally generic steps, and your registrar may use different terminology. This guide should be taken as a very loose set of steps.

Required:

  • Active MyWiFi subscription.
  • A purchased domain name.
  1. Log in to your registrar -- the site where you purchased your domain.
  2. Go to your domain's management page.
  3. Look for some mention of DNS. This may also be termed DNS Zones or DNS Records
  4. Click the button or link to Add a new record. You may need to specify at this step that it is a CNAME record
  5. Use these details:

    DNS record type:
    CNAME
Host or Subdomain or Record: dashboard
    TTL: 1 hour
Points to or Directs to: mysocialwifi.securewificloud.com

The values in red should be changed before saving. Change dashboard to whatever you would like your custom control panel URL to be, and change mysocialwifi to your personal application URL, found on your Branding page.

  6. Save your new DNS record.
  7. Create another CNAME record the same way, and use these details:

    DNS record type: CNAME
Host or Subdomain or Record: social
    TTL: 1 hour
Points to or Directs to: mysocialwifi.securewifilogin.com

The values in red should be changed before saving. Change social to whatever you would like your custom control panel URL to be, and change mysocialwifi to your personal application URL, found on your Branding page.

  8. Save your new DNS record. If necessary, save all changes to your DNS records.
